Weather Stops Oshkosh Spring Brawl

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Ample snowfalls through the early spring and unseasonable cold temperatures have left area dirt tracks scrambling to prepare for their season opening events.

With late week conditions showing temperatures near freezing and additional rain or snow expected in the days leading up to the upcoming Spring Brawl event at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway, both track and series officials have opted to delay the Spring Brawl event to a possible future date.

No racing will take place on April 20.

The combination Bumper to Bumper IRA 410 Outlaw Sprint Car and Midwest Sprint Association 360 Car show was to have opened the 2013 season at Oshkosh Speedzone.

“I really hate to see this happen, but Mother Nature has been in a cross mood all Spring. We were really looking forward to opening at the Speedzone, but there’s nothing anybody can do. With all the cold and rain the past several weeks there just isn’t enough time to prepare, despite what the weather may do the next few days. This is a big show, and I absolutely agree with the decision and look forward to our June 21st date that much more. The Speedzone is one of our favorites,” stated IRA President Steve Sinclair.
