MALTA, N.Y. — In case you were wondering, it’s true. Batman can fly! Peter “Batman” Britten proved it at Albany-Saratoga Speedway Friday night as he beat Brett Hearn for the second consecutive week in the 35-lap DIRTcar modified feature.

Britten turned fast-time on Tuesday’s “Brett Hearn’s Big Race 6” Super DIRTcar program, which was halted by rain, then came out blazing in Friday’s feature as well. He and Hearn took the green side by side in the seventh row but the popular Australian got away from Hearn early on as front row starter Matt Depew took command early on.

A pair of early crashes helped Ronnie Johnson advance quickly from 12th and by lap nine he had seized the lead from DePew. But Britten was fourth and three more restarts before halfway let him claw his way to the lead. Hearn followed, taking second on lap 21, but by then Britten had flown to a substantial lead. And Marc Johnson, up from 19th, was on Hearn and had him put away until another yellow before the lap was scored, negating the pass.

At the checkered flag, it was Britten, Hearn, Marc Johnson, Ronnie Johnson, Depew, Kenny Tremont Jr., Elmo Reckner, Don Ronca, Keith Flach and Jeff Strunk.

Chuck Dumblewski bested Dave DePaula in a great pro stock feature with Jake Scarborough losing the Sportsman feature lead to Jon Miller, then taking it back by inches at the checkers.
