Cold Weather Postpones Black Rock Finale

DUNDEE, N.Y. – Rain was not going to be a factor for this Saturday’s Empire Finale at Black Rock Speedway, however near-freezing temperatures will force the 2012 season to go on one week longer.

Officials at the Black Rock Speedway made the decision Thursday afternoon to postpone the final race of the season to Nov. 10, featuring $6,000-to-win Modified event and the $10,000-to-win “Big One” Enduro, along with the Total Destruction Demolition Derby. The overwhelming reason centered on temperatures in the mid 30s, coupled with wind chills in the 20s.

The management at BRS is cognizant that the Nov. 10 date will create conflicts for some teams that were interested in competing and want to apologize to those that will be unable to attend but want to make clear that additional efforts will be made to get the modified teams out in an expedient manner to head to their local banquet that night.

More information on the exact start times will be available in the coming days.
