OSWEGO, N.Y. – Dave Gruel announced this week the official formation of his own Novelis Supermodified team for the 2014 season at Oswego Speedway.

The brand new team effort will campaign a new generation Hawk Performance Chassis, which is currently on order, along with a fresh Enders Racing Engines power plant for the entire 2014 Novelis Supermodified season at the ‘Steel Palace’.

“I am very excited about the upcoming 2014 season,” said Gruel. “With a brand new Hawk chassis on order and a fresh Enders Racing Engines engine in the new No. 50, I cannot wait to be back at Oswego (Speedway) for the full season. We are currently assembling a team that will give the car a potent run for the 2014 championship.”

A former Pathfinder Bank SBS champion at Oswego Speedway, with 17 career victories, Gruel moved to the Novelis Supermodified division as a weekly competitor in 2010 driving the Double Deuce Racing No. 50 machine.

In four full seasons with Double Deuce team owners Bob Hoefer and Bill Samuels, Gruel collected three main event wins and finished in the top five in the championship standings twice, including a fourth place effort in 2013.

Gruel’s 2013 campaign was boasted by an impressive 75-lap win in Oswego’s annual 4th of July Weekend Grand Prix Night special over championship contenders Joe Gosek and Otto Sitterly.

Gruel, who also collected the 2012 running of the ISMA Supermodified King of Wings at Oswego in the Steve Miller Sweet 16, will now make the leap to his own team in search of continued success with some of the same supporters.

“We’re excited to continue our partnership with Enders Racing Engines, U-Pull U-Save Auto Parts, and A&P Auto Parts for the coming season,” said Gruel. “We thank those who have returned to be with our new team and of course welcome any additional help to try and cover our week to week costs.”

With Supermodified victories in each of his first four seasons at Oswego Speedway, Gruel looks to keep the streak alive in 2014 behind the wheel of his all new endeavor.

“I’m looking forward to working with Hawk Chassis and Enders Racing Engines to get us up front and competing for a championship,” said Gruel.
