It’s Friesen Again At Albany-Saratoga
MALTA, N.Y. — Stewart Friesen notched his third win of the season Friday night at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway, besting point leader Brett Hearn and Kenny Tremont Jr. in the 35-lap “King of the Catskills” qualifier for DIRTcar modifieds.
Front row starter Jimmy Cottrell led the early laps, dueling first with Justin Delaney and then Keith Flach as the “big dogs” chewed their way forward from the seventh and eighth rows. By halfway, Friesen, who had used a berm-climbing inside move to shake loose from Hearn and Tremont, stood third.
Two laps later he blew under Cottrell to take command and he cruised unchallenged to the $3,000 win.
Tremont finally shook loose from a battle with Matt DeLorenzo to show third on lap 28 but could not catch Hearn, who in turn could not close on the leader. They checkered that way, with DeLorenzo fourth ahead of Cottrell, Elmo Reckner, Don Ronca, Flach, Rich Ronca, Ronnie Johnson and Mike Perrotte.
DIRTcar Pro Stock kingpin Rob Yetmen claimed their feature with Chad Jeseo and Rob Langevin trailing.
