McCreadie Stops Hearn At Albany-Saratoga

MALTA, N.Y. — Brett Hearn’s Albany-Saratoga Speedway winning streak came to an end Friday night as opening-day winner Tim McCreadie, with an off weekend from the WoO LM circuit, returned to claim his second 35-lap feature of the year.

Hearn was second to McCreadie, who was driving the Vinnie Salerno owned No. 4 that Hearn won often in before moving to the Madsen Motorsports Team. Mid-race leader Jeff Trombley was third ahead of Matt DeLorenzo and Kenny Tremont Jr.

Two crashes, including a melee on the pace lap for the restart, kept the scoreboard on zero for a long time but once the race got underway, Jimmy Cottell led thorough lap 14, when the tenth starting Trombley took command.

But McCreadie, who had lined up 14th, dove under Trombley two laps later and took a lead he would never relinquish. Hearn, up from 15th, struggled with Trombley until finally getting into turn one underneath him with three to go, but by then McCreadie was counting the money.

Ronnie Johnson led the second five, followed by Justin Delaney, Bob Savoie, Mike Perrotte and Matt Depew.

Paul Murane got the street stock win when the two leaders crashed off turn four going to the checkers, with Rob Langevin leading the pro stocks home.
