Rudolph Wheels Back-Up Car To Glory

TIOGA CENTER, N.Y. — Erick Rudolph outclassed the modified field Sunday at Shangri-La II Motor Speedway using a back-up car that didn’t even belong to him.

Driving the back-up car owned by fellow competitor Wilber Hebing, Rudolph followed the leaders closely and waited for his time to strike.

When Hebing spun from the lead, that turned the top spot over to Brian DeFebo. After the third caution of the race Rudolph made his move, using the outside in turn three to take the lead away.

Andy Walko gave chase, but was unable to catch Rudolph and finished second. Jimmy Zacharias, Darren Scherer and Hebing completed the top five.

Other winners at Shangri-La II Motor Speedway Sunday included Jimmy Zacharias (sportsman), Jeff Goodwin (street stocks) and Brandon Ameigh (four-cylinder stocks).
