FONDA, N.Y. – Fonda Speedway has undergone several improvements this off-season thanks to the guidance of new track promoter and big-block modified racer Matt Delorenzo.

“This is the first time I’ve been a track promoter. It’s an eight year deal and I’m putting $150,000 into fixing it (the track) up,” Delorenzo said. The plan is to spend that money improving the grandstands, restrooms and concession areas. For the racers, new bathrooms in the infield and paving the tech area. The best news for fans is that Delorenzo plans to adjust the ticket prices to make Fonda Speedway more family friendly.

One of the improvements planned by Delorenzo has already been made. The grandstands, which before looked weathered and old, have been cleaned up and have received a fresh coat of paint ahead of the 2014 racing season.

Fonda Speedway has several major events scheduled for 2014, including the World of Outlaws Late Model Series on June 19 and the Super DIRTcar Series on Sept. 21.
