New Promoter At Boone County

ALBION, Neb. – A former track champion is the new promoter this season at Boone County Speedway.

Bryan Molt, a nine-year veteran of the hobby stock and limited late model classes at Albion, takes charge of the three-eighths-mile dirt oval, a weekly fixture with IMCA since 1995.

“This is my home track,” said Molt, the hobby stock champion at Boone County in 2007 and 2008, and a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a journalism degree emphasizing public relations, marketing and advertising. “With my background in racing and education, I felt this was the right opportunity and the right time to jump on board.”

Boone County will add IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars while the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts all return to Friday programs.

The IMCA Stock Cars will replace a local street stock class.

“Sanctioning the Stock Cars means drivers in that division can also earn national, regional and state recognition,” explained Molt. “A lot of our street stock drivers will be able to come here and race and be competitive. They’ll be able to race for points at other sanctioned tracks, too, because they know their cars will be legal.”

Opening night is May 3. Season championships are set for Aug. 30.

A $500 to win feature for Sport Compacts is on the schedule for the opener. Boone County Speedway is off July 5 and ends the season with a higher purse for the Budweiser Shootout.

“We’re really going to do everything we can to create a fun atmosphere. We want this track to be a place parents want to bring their kids and everyone has a good time,” Molt said. “There’s a lot of history at Boone County, and a lot of fans and drivers keep coming back because they want to continue being part of that. We want to make even more history this year.”
