Sweeping Results Highlight Tulsa Shootout

TULSA, Okla. – Starting bright and early, the Saturday portion of the Speedway Motors Tulsa Shootout presented by Vacuworx Global began where Friday night left off in Heat Race order with the six remaining classes taking to the quarter-mile Tulsa Expo Raceway for 73 rounds before giving way to Qualifiers.

Non-Wing Heat Races kicked off the day’s festivities followed by the 1,200cc Mini Sprints. The Restricted “A” Class, ECOtec Midgets, and Outlaw class each took the track for their respective Heat Races.

Heats broke into Qualifiers which saw several drivers repeating their Heat Race success with Mitchell Faccinto and Heath Dunkerken each sweeping Heat and Qualifier in the Non-Winged Outlaw division. Blake Hahn continues his momentum with a sweep of his ECOtec Midget Heat and

Qualifier. Restricted “A” Class saw Austin Lambert, Jason McDougal, Weston Gorham, and Dahne Lynn McKay all taking Heat and Qualifier victories for a full sweep so far for the four drivers. “A” Class Non-Wing saw a sweep by Nathan McMillin.

C-Mains for the “A” Class and Non-Wing Outlaws ended out Saturday night’s program with the top four from each of the C-Features advancing into Sunday’s B-Mains. The “A” Class saw 6 C-Features with Collin Markle, Brayden Planko, Kaley Engstrom, Travis Labat, Chance McCrary, and Ronnie James each taking a C-Main victory.

Outlaw Non-Wing C-Mains totaled eight with Greg Moore, Matt Veatch, Jordan Lambert, Curtis Jones, Austin Brown, Jacob Hawkins, Harlan Hulsey and Rodney Stealy each taking victories.

Hard flips during the evening by Tyler Thomas and Payton Williams resulted in Red Flag conditions. Thomas was transported to an area Hospital as a precaution but returned to the track with no problems. Williams was also unharmed.

Total race count for Saturday was 110 bringing the weekend total to 172.

The finale of the 28th annual Speedway Motors Tulsa Shootout takes place Sunday. The Tulsa Expo Center will open at 8 a.m. with racing getting underway at 9 a.m. Feature events are scheduled to begin following opening ceremonies at 6 p.m.
