Bronson Survives Modified Thriller

OCALA, Fla. – Kyle Bronson put on a show en route to victory in the open-wheel modified division Saturday at Bubba Raceway Park.

Bronson jumped into the lead from the outside of the front row. However, Dalton Lanich spun on the backstretch to bring out the caution flag on lap two.

Despite a two more quick caution flags, Bronson maintained his lead over Jeff Mathews and Scott Kurtzner.

The mayhem continued to be fast and furious as Bronson maintained his lead. Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. began to make a charge towards the front with 11 laps left, but after taking second place his No. 11 rig broke.

With four laps left Lanich lost his right-rear tire, leaving Bronson to hold off Mathews and Bubba Christian in a quick dash to the finish.

Mathews settled for second, followed by Christian, Kent Corbin and Gary Sexton.

Other event winners Saturday included David Showers, Jr. (limited late models), Tim Powers (hobby stocks), Robert Ray (thunder stocks) and Brandon Haseleu (gladiators).
