Garbo Gets First Hickory Victory
HICKORY, N.C. — David Garbo Jr. scored his first career late model stock car victory on Saturday night at Hickory Motor Speedway in the Big 10 Challenge.
Garbo qualified in 13th with a 15.331 second lap but quickly made his way to the lead in the 100-lap race.
“It was a big win because it was my first career late model win,” said Garbo. “It means a lot. I got my first win of the year. Jamie Yelton and Fat Head Racing put a lot of work in to the car so I wouldn’t be here without them. It was a good race. It didn’t take too long to get out front. Once we got the lead, we rode a little bit, saved our tires and pulled away right at the end.”
C.J. Hulsey finished second, followed by Grant Wimbish, Jesse LeFevers and Shane Lee.
Robert Hapeman won the sportsman feature, Shane Lee topped the limited late model race and Kenneth Roberts won in renegades. The street stock main event went to Kevin Townsend.
