Haskins Big Friday Night Winner At Gresham

JEFFERSON, Ga. — Friday night at Gresham Motorsports Park saw the Mini Cups, Sportsman, and Trucks hit the pavement for the first three features of the 28th annual Rheem World Crown 300 weekend.

Cody Haskins dominated the Rheem 75 Truck feature after losing the pole by three-hundredths of a second to Spencer Davis in the No. 29 Rheem machine. Davis started on the pole, but Haskins had the lead by turn two and never gave it up.

Cody Puckett brought out the first caution on lap seven when he spun in turn two. On that restart, pole-sitter Davis got a slow start and was back to fifth, but charged his way back over the next several laps. Just past the halfway point, Davis was up to second behind Haskins, but again had a slow restart and was nearly at the rear of the field before he brought out the fourth caution of the evening when his engine blew.

Davis’ Rheem teammate Brandon Jones restarted in second, but was challenged for that spot on lap 60 by Chris Wagner who took the position. A hard-charging Matt Vassar recovered from some trouble in qualifying which forced him to start at the tail of the field to take fourth while Cohen Motes rounded out the top five.

In the 20-lap Sportsman feature, John Mobley was on point when the green flag flew, but Mark Caudell took the lead down the backstretch on the first lap. Brian Sosebee charged from the rear of the field to take second from Mobley on lap seven before catching leader Caudell to take the lead on lap 14.

Sosebee took the checkered flag ahead of Caudell, Mobley, Jody Trivette and Tommy Stokes. The win was an emotional one for Sosebee as it came on the anniversary of his father’s death in 1996.

Brody Bullard was on the pole for the 10-lap Mini Cup feature. Bullard led the first two laps, but was overtaken by a hard-charging Mason Elzey. Elzey went to the lead and never looked back. Elzey took the checkered flag with Bullard in second. Draton Bennette, Jacob Cochran, and Will Fagan rounded out the top five.
