Weather Stops Kingsport Biggie

KINGSPORT, Tenn. — With the National Weather Service forecast predicting 70 percent chance of rain on Saturday, Sept. 21, with possible heavy precipitation during the afternoon and evening hours, the season-ending Friends of Coal – We Support Coal Miners 125 at Kingsport Speedway has been postponed and rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19.

“Several race teams from out of state are expected for this event, and with the rain probability very high this will keep them from making the long trip and just spending money on fuel for travel and other expenses,” said Kingsport Speedway promoter Robert Pressley. “It’s a tough call to have to make, but you’ve got to take into consideration the teams that must travel and what they face in trying to make the decision to come race or stay at home. Everybody was really looking forward to this event and really geared-up for a great show. This is unfortunate but beyond our control. We are expecting a great field of cars for this season-finale, and we hope to see everyone at the rescheduled date on Saturday, Oct. 19.”
