Wild Night Of Summer Shootout Action
Swilling took control of the race on lap 12 and Hemric moved into second place. Hemric tracked Swilling until lap 27, when he was able to get close enough to move by. Swilling took the lead back on lap 29, and Hemric charged back past him for the final time coming to the checkers. Swilling came home second, Grala finished third, Plott crossed the line in fourth and Reid Wilson rounded out the top five.
In the Security Force Masters Division, Pistone, of Mooresville, N.C., picked up his second win of the season over the seasoned veterans of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series.
Mark Green led the field after a caution was called on lap two. He maintained a steady advantage until another caution was called on lap 19. It looked as though Green would pull ahead of the pack again and claim the victory, but Pistone pulled up next to the leader. After a little side-by-side action, Pistone pulled ahead and led the Masters all the way to Victory Lane. Kevin Foisy took second place, with Mark Green placing third. John Sossoman and John Craig rounded out the top five.
Sparks flew when the Bandolero Outlaws took to the track under the lights. Jordan Plummer led the field to the green flag but was instantly overtaken by Miguel Cesar going into turn one. With tight racing throughout the field and a couple quick cautions, the battle for the number one spot never ceased. In a three-wide pass for the lead on lap seven, Chase Purdy took the lead. Purdy and point-leader Holleman battled it out for five laps until Holleman eventually overhauled him for the lead.
When it looked like Holleman was about pull away with his fifth win of the season, a last-lap wreck between Sprout Royal and Tal Davidson slowed the field once again. But even a green-white-checkered couldn’t ruin Holleman’s night and the Winston-Salem, N.C. native, came away with the victory in Round Nine. Holleman was followed by Austin Green, Nate Tretow, Christopher Clanton, and Chase Purdy rounding out the top five.
Other winners included Carson Ferguson, of Concord, N.C., in the Legend Car Young Lions division; Joe Ryan Osborne, of Kannapolis, N.C., in the Legend Car Semi-Pro division; D.J. Canipe, of Fallston, N.C., in the Bandolero Bandits; and Joshua Kossek, of Tobaccoville, N.C., in the Beginner Bandits.
