Jacobson Masters Skagit 410 Sprint

ALGER, Wash. – Annually one of the biggest events at Skagit Speedway is the Les Schwab Midseason Championships and Fireworks Show. With daytime temperatures well into the 70’s and beautiful sunny skies the racers treated the race fans to a great show.

Travis Jacobson dominated the mid-season championship night on the track in the 410 division leading every lap of both the Scramble and the 25-lap main event. Brock Lemley made things interesting with a late race charge to finish second in the main followed by Eric Fisher in third. Jonathan Jorgenson kept things interesting with a great battle with Fisher early in the race for second before coming to a stop during a lap12 yellow.

In the 360 Sprint division Colton Heath used a late race yellow and a two position penalty for a starting cone violation to roar back and take over the lead on the 19th lap for the win. Derek Roberts had a solid night with a second place finisher while Travis Rilat earned hard charger honors picking up eight spots to finish third. Point leader Kelsey Carpenter won the Scramble.

With five wins early in the season, including his second in a row, Zach McCabe has retaken the point lead from Steve Parker. Parker tangled with a lapped car late in the Sportsman Sprint race handing the lead over to McCabe who had just passed Cory Swatzina for second. McCabe used the gift and won the race with Swatzina beating Tyler Fox to the line for second and third. Parker dominated the scramble.

Rick Young extended his point lead in the Outlaw Tuners with a mid-season championship win leading every lap. Jon Gunderson ran second and also won the Scramble. The crowd was sitting on the edge of their seat for most of the main watching the battles for fourth through eighth with cars going three and four wide into the corners for most of the event.
