Last Pavement Event At Orange Show

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The last pavement race at Orange Show Speedway, scheduled for Dec. 15, is shaping up as the biggest pavement race ever at the historic track on the National Orange Show grounds.

Already more than 90 drivers have filed entries for the nine-race program and each day more names are being added. There might even be a few surprise entries to celebrate 65 years of continuous racing at California’s oldest track and compete on the quarter-mile asphalt oval for the final time.

Main events are scheduled for Super Late Models, Late Models, Mini (Pony) Stocks, Street Stocks, Legends, Bandoleros, Factory Fours, Outlaw Figure 8s and Open Comp and all the lineups will be determined by blind draws.

Admission for the last pavement race will be $15 for adults and $10 for seniors, students, youths 6 to 18 and military personnel. Children 5 and under will be admitted free and parking also is free.

Gates will open at 1 p.m. A Meet and Greet session is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and racing will get under way at 4:30 p.m.

Dirt Entertainment, which will convert the speedway to a dirt track for the 2013 season, has put this event together as a tribute to the track’s asphalt history and the drivers, crews and fans who helped write it.
