Lemley Stops Smith At Skagit
ALGER, Wash. — Brock Lemley swapped the lead with Cam Smith over the last four laps of the 360 sprint car main bringing the crowd to its feet Saturday night at Skagit Speedway.
Early race leader Travis Jacobson was starting to pull away from Smith on the 12th lap when he lost it in turn two, did a 360 in the middle of heavy traffic and slipped by Smith at the start finish line to regain the lead. Then four laps later his driveline broke and Lemley who had slipped by Smith took over the lead. Lemley and Smith duked it out over the last eight laps, with the final four seeing slide jobs and power moves that kept the crowd on the edge of their seat.
Jacobson set fast time with an 11.831-second lap.
The Sportsman Sprint main was dominated by Steve Parker and yellow flags. Parker led all 20 laps to extend his point lead in the division. Parker praised his team in winners circle as they just picked up the new motor at 10pm the previous night and then replaced a rear end prior to arriving at the track late. Cory Swatzina and last week’s winner Zach McCabe rounded out the podium.
Visitor Nick Williams dominated the Outlaw Tuner feature.
