BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – NASCAR CITGO Lubricants Late Model points leader Brian Richardson returned to his familiar No. 4 ride and promptly swept Saturday’s Twin 35s at Kern County Raceway Park.

“I got news for you: that wasn’t that easy,” Richardson said. “The guys did a (great) job getting this car back together and it feels great.”

In the first of the 35s, Richardson charged from seventh on the grid to the lead on lap nine. He maintained a full one second advantage over fast time qualifier Lance Wilson through the finish. Josh Horn won a race long battle with rookie Buddy Shepherd for third as well.

The second 35 lap race saw Richardson start on the outside pole and make quick work of the field to take the lead on the opening lap. A strong battle between the rookies Racin Vernon and Shepherd for second impeded the progress of Wilson, who finally broke free but ran out laps to catch Richardson. Richardson led all 35 circuits for a 2.1 second win while 15 year-old Vernon earned a career best third place run over Shepherd.

Clark made the decisive pass on lap seven to get ahead of Cheyenne Flippo and he never looked back. Flippo hung on for second and Balcazar came back for third.

Kabe McClenny used 2013 Sr. Mini Dwarf champion Jerry Flippo’s ride to take his second consecutive Jr. Mini Dwarf win. Kercie Jung overcame an early race spin of her own to finish second with Kabe’s brother Kale third.
