Skagit Dirt Cup Rain Date Cancelled
ALGER, Wash. – Due to a contractual conflict, the Dirt Cup rain date scheduled for Aug. 30 at Skagit Speedway has been cancelled.
“When it became obvious we would not get to race the final night of Dirt Cup I looked for the best date for the fans and the teams that were at Dirt Cup,” said Skagit Speedway Promoter Steve Beitler. “It only made sense to put it on Thursday before the WoO event, all the fans and teams that were at Dirt Cup would most likely be returning that weekend. I believed this would be the least expensive alternative.”
I have been informed by World Racing Group that any 410 sprint car practices or races four days prior to a WoO event are strictly prohibited. I have been involved with the WoO for more than 23 years and have never heard of this rule, but it is in the contract. I have had several phone conversations as well as in person discussions with the WRG management to resolve this matter, most recently at the Knoxville Nationals. WRG management stated that it is important that all WoO promoters are treated fairly and consistently with each other and this decision is fair and consistent with the set guidelines in the WoO sanctioning agreement.”
A full refund will be issued to all persons that have purchased a Saturday night Dirt Cup ticket. You can mail it to our office at the address below or use it for its face value on either World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event night.
A full refund will be issued to all persons that purchased a final day pit pass as well as season ticket holders. Full details are available on the Skagit Speedway website www.skagitspeedway.com.
