Thursday

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. — One week after finishing third in the dirt-late-model Dream at Eldora Speedway, Shane Clanton came to Duck River Speedway and ran away with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event, becoming the 13th different winner in 18 events this season.
Clanton grabbed the lead on lap three and was never threatened despite four caution flags, which bunched the field for the restarts. Clanton quickly distinguished himself as the car to beat, pulling away on every restart.
Steve Casebolt edged Scott Bloomquist for the runner-up spot with 13th-place starter Justin Rattliff finishing fourth, followed by Freddy Smith.
“I can’t thank Ronnie Dobbins enough, and my crew is just tremendous. We worked until midnight last night putting a new Custom motor in the car. This Rocket Chassis has been real good the last few weeks. The track was phenomenal tonight,” said Clanton, who banked $7,000 for winning the 40-lap event. “I first raced here back in ’97 and won that time, so it’s great to be back here.”
Casebolt regained the point lead with his second-place finish.
The finish:
Shane Clanton, Steve Casebolt, Scott Bloomquist, Justin Rattliff, Freddy Smith, Bart Hartman, Billy Drake, Ray Cook, Dustin Neat, Randy Weaver, Brandon Kinzer, Wayne Chinn, Jay Brinkley, David Earl Gentry, Jimmy Tucker, Tyler Landers, John Mason, Terry Casey, Jerry Owens, Jason Fitzgerald, Anthony Burroughs, Scott James, Earl Pearson, Jr., Shon Flanary, Daniel Miller.

Friday

CHATSWORTH, Ga. — Dan Schlieper was one of the last cars to arrive at North Georgia Speedway for Friday night’s Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event, but at the end of the night he was standing in victory lane.
Schlieper arrived late after his tow rig broke down en route to Duck River Speedway the previous night, forcing him to miss that event.
However, when they arrived, Schlieper and crew chief Jason Palubicki had a near-perfect race car.
“Man I can’t believe we were that good. The car was just fantastic,” Schlieper said. “After all we’ve been through, to come here and win just makes it all worth it.
“There was an electronic shifter on top of the transmission in the truck that went bad and we were stranded in Mt. Vernon, Ill., yesterday and they had to overnight the part from Memphis, so we couldn’t race last night.”
Schlieper’s second-career victory in the series was worth $10,000 for the team, which utilized a Russ Scheffler-built Wild, Inc. Chassis. The winner started outside the front row and led all 50 laps.
Clint Smith outdueled Duck River winner Shane Clanton to finish second. Dream winner Scott Bloomquist and Ray Cook rounded out the top five.
The finish:
Dan Schlieper, Clint Smith, Shane Clanton, Scott Bloomquist, Ray Cook, Jimmy Owens, Billy Drake, Joe Armes, Justin Rattliff, Freddy Smith, Steve Casebolt, Earl Pearson, Jr., Bart Hartman, Rick Rogers, Brandon Kinzer, Gary McPherson, Scott James, Tommy Kerr, Vic Hill, Skip Arp, Randy Burrows, Chris Madden, Jake Knowles, Billy Ogle, Jr.

Saturday

EASTABOGA, Ala. — They call Talladega Short Track “The Hornet’s Nest” and for good reason.
Driving the Bloomquist No. 44, Chris Madden raced to his first-career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory in a hotly contested feature race Saturday night, becoming the 15th different winner in 20 Lucas Oil Late Model races this season.
Madden took the lead on lap 13 and fended off several challengers for the top spot as he took home the $10,000 prize. Madden passed Randy Weaver for the point on lap 13 and was forced to hold off a fierce challenge from Shane Clanton for the bulk of the race.
Clanton had one final chance at Madden thanks to the race’s final restart with eight laps remaining. Clanton went to the high side for the final restart, but slipped off the turn four embankment with five laps to go, a move that not only cost Clanton a shot at the victory but also two spots in the running order.
Ray Cook finished second with Madden pulling away. Clanton passed Weaver to make up one of those lost spots and finished third. Weaver settled for fourth ahead of Madden’s teammate, Jimmy Owens.
Madden dedicated the victory to his wife, whose father recently died, just a few weeks before Father’s Day
The finish:
Chris Madden, Ray Cook, Shane Clanton, Randy Weaver, Jimmy Owens, Earl Pearson Jr., Billy Drake, Tony Knowles, Danny Peoples, Terry Smith, Clint Smith, Brandon Kinzer, Wayne Chinn, Tim Busha, Scott James, Steve Casebolt, Vic Hill, Ronnie Johnson, Freddy Smith, Bart Hartman, John Mason, Dan Schlieper, Ross Martin, Justin Rattliff, Terry Casey.
