Bloomquist Collects $10,000 In Bluegrass Late Model Classic
BARDSTOWN, Ky. — Scott Bloomquist won his third-consecutive Bluegrass Classic Saturday night at Bluegrass Speedway.
Bloomquist earned $10,000 for the victory in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned event.
Brad Neat came from the 20th-starting spot to finish second followed by Billy Drake, Terry English and Justin Rattliff.
Dan Schlieper led the first 17 laps in a tight battle for the lead with three other drivers. Earl Pearson, Jr. took to the inside groove and moved into the lead on lap 18 passing Schlieper, who fell to second. Schlieper regained the lead until a caution flag on lap 24 would see Schlieper head to the pit area with mechanical problems to end his night.
Pearson inherited the lead after Schlieper went out and he led until Bloomquist who started second in the race went by him for the lead. Bloomquist then waited through four more caution flags but had no problem with restarts as he comfortably went on for the victory before a packed grandstand.
