Friday
GIBSONTON, Fla. — For the first time in the last 11 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events at East Bay Raceway Park there was a repeat winner during Friday’s fifth round of the DART Machinery Winternationals.
Billy Moyer led all 50 laps to post his 17th-career triumph at the third-mile oval and his second victory of the week.
Moyer started second and took the lead from the start, holding off Brady Smith for the victory. Eric Jacobsen, Donnie Moran and John Blankenship, who started 20th, rounded out the top five.
“That was a good race there,” the 50-year-old driver said. “We made a few adjustments after the heat and starting on the outside front row was a big advantage, but my car really did well all over the track. We kind of searched there a little bit to see what groove to run, and it actually got faster there towards the end.”
Terry Casey was fast qualifier for the 88-car field.
The finish:
Billy Moyer, Brady Smith, Eric Jacobson, Donnie Moran, John Blankenship, Mike Marlar, Steve Francis, Ray Cook, Terry Casey, Tim McCreadie, Steve Shaver, Josh Richards, Scott James, Wayne Chinn, Steve Casebolt, Dan Schlieper, Chuck Harper, Bart Hartman, Tim Fuller, Earl Pearson, Jr., Shane Clanton, Don O’Neal, Matt Miller, Shannon Babb, Dave Tyrchniewicz.
Thursday
GIBSONTON, Fla. — “It’s been a long time coming,” said Terry Casey, who won the biggest race of his career on Thursday’s fourth night of competition during the 32nd annual DART Winternationals for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at East Bay Raceway Park.
Casey, who has been coming to the Tampa-area facility for the last four years, has been close to winning several times at the third-mile dirt track, but this time he was able to seal the deal for the biggest win of his career.
The $10,000 victory came over Billy Moyer, Matt Miller, Steve Casebolt and Josh Richards.
“I can’t believe it. I finally won a race here,” Casey said. “It’s been my dream to win a Lucas Oil race, and we did it. Man, this is great.
“It was the luck of the draw. I saw Matt Miller draw the number two, and I just drew, and it was the number one, and I thought that’s just what I needed after the bad luck I’ve had here in the past. I wanted to win this race so bad.”
Casey, whose previous biggest victory was a $4,000-to-win event, became the fourth different winner in four nights of racing at East Bay. Starting from the pole, Casey led every lap and held off Moyer during a final five-lap shootout after the third and final yellow flag during the 40-lap event.
Casey was also the fast qualifier for the 84-car field.
The finish:
Terry Casey, Billy Moyer, Matt Miller, Steve Casebolt, Josh Richards, Tim McCreadie, Scott Bloomquist, Donnie Moran, Mike Marlar, Don O’Neal, Steve Francis, Rick Eckert, Justin Ratliff, Chris Madden, Ray Cook, Scott James, Chris Wall, Earl Pearson, Jr., Terry English, Tim Dohm, Bart Hartman, Eric Jacobson, Darren Miller, Brian Barber, Shannon Babb.
Feb. 6
GIBSONTON, Fla. — Billy Moyer, the winningest driver in the history of the DART Winternationals, proved his prowess again Feb. 6 at East Bay Raceway Park.
Moyer passed Terry Casey for the lead on lap 23 of the third-mile dirt track and withstood two late yellow flags to post his 16th-career victory during the annual February event.
“No, it wasn’t easy,” said Moyer, who banked $5,000 for the triumph. “Terry Casey was real good. There was a lot of give and take out there tonight. We had a good race there with (Dan) Schliepet that was a lot of fun there, but once we got up to Casey we were able to get by him after what seemed like several laps.”
Casey started fifth and quickly moved forward, taking the lead from polesitter Schlieper on lap six.
Moyer made his way forward and battled with Schlieper for several laps before taking second and eventually chasing down Casey.
After losing the lead, Casey spun on lap 27, bringing out the final yellow flag of the race. Moyer held off Schlieper, with Don O’Neal, Matt Miller and Josh Richards rounding out the top five.
Miller was the fast qualifier for the 75-car field.

O’Neal, who led every lap on Monday, took the lead from Donnie Moran on the second lap and set the pace until Miller made his winning move. O’Neal raced to the checkered flag in second.
“Don (O’Neal) is one tough customer and I knew it was going to be a hard to get around him, because he wasn’’t going to back down and I knew that, but he raced me clean and gave me plenty of room and once we got by him,” Miller said. “I couldn’t wait to see the checkered flag.”
Shannon Babb romped from 14th- starting position to finish third with Terry English and Justin Rattliff rounding out the top five.
