Parity Rules Lucas Oil Late Model Series As Pearson Takes Kankakee, Miller Brownstown

KANKAKEE, Ill. — Defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion Earl Pearson, Jr. used the bottom line to charge from his 13th-starting spot for his fifth victory of the season as the series made its inaugural visit to the Kankakee Motor Speedway on Friday Night.
Pearson took the lead with 15 laps to go, winning a three-wide battle for the point with Scott James and Mike Marlar. James, who is second in points, finished in the runner-up spot followed by Marlar, Dan Schlieper and Billy Drake.
Pearson extended his point lead over James to 4,725-4,595. Steve Casebolt is in third with 4,425 points.

BROWNSTOWN, Ind. — Matt Miller ruled the 28th annual Jackson 100 Saturday night at Brownstown Speedway, leading all 100 laps en route to the $15,000 victory.
The Lucas Oil late model event was Miller’s fourth career victory. He became the 17th different winner in 30 races so far this year.
Josh McGuire had a couple of chances to get by Miller, but Miller drove a near perfect race in holding off McGuire. Steve Francis finished behind McGuire for third and was followed by Donnie Moran and Billy Drake.
