Buzzie Rules East Bay Clay

East Bay Raceway Park, Gibsonton, Fla.

GIBSONTON, Fla. — The regular season of racing action kicked off on Saturday night at the one-third mile Eastbay Raceway Park.
Tim Gay was the first to visit victory lane in the limited late model feature.
Wayne Hammond was the early leader in the open wheel modifieds but a mid-race incident knocked him out of contention. Buzzie Reutimann started third and jumped out front on the restart following Hammond’s wreck. Scotty Williams put on a charge but was unable to pass Reutimann.
Steve O’Lone abandoned his asphalt racing roots to get a little dirty last year at Eastbay. His transition paid off on Saturday, taking the street stock feature.
Other winners of the night were: Marshall Austin (late models), Jim Coursen (outlaw), and Frank Miller (four cylinder bombers).
