Four-Year-Hiatus Doesn’t Slow Claycomb At Florence

Spring 50, Florence (Ky.) Speedway

UNION, Ky. — Veteran late-model driver Kevin Claycomb is showing little rust after a nearly four years away from the wheel.
Claycomb took the lead from Patrick Sheltra as Sheltra encountered lapped traffic on lap 41. From there, Claycomb, who also won the event in 1996, held on for the victory Saturday night at the 32nd-annual Spring 50 at Florence Speedway.
Rod Conley followed in second. Condy Mahoney was third, Josh Williams fourth and six-time Florence track champion Steve Landrum was fifth. After losing the lead, Sheltra fell all the way to ninth.
