Inaugural Western All Stars Las Vegas Dirt Classic: Mars, McCreadie Each Earn Victories

LAS VEGAS — Jimmy Mars, who dominated the inaugural Las Vegas Dirt Classic in 2007, was up to his old tricks Thursday night at The Dirt Track @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Mars charged to the $3,000 triumph during the Western All Star late-model feature on the first of two nights of racing in conjunction with the NASCAR events at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Mars held off Ohio racer Scott James for the victory, with Tim McCreadie, Trevor Glaser and Steve Drake rounding out the top five.
Drake was the fast qualifier for the 46-car field, turning an 18.563-second lap of the half-mile oval.

LAS VEGAS — Part-time NASCAR Nationwide Series racer Tim McCreadie ended Jimmy Mars’s hot streak Friday night at The Dirt Track @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Mars, who won Friday’s Western All Stars late-model opener for the Las Vegas Dirt Classic and dominated the event in 2007, didn’t have enough to keep the 2006 World of Outlaws Late Model Series champion from grabbing the $3,000 winner’s share for the night.
In fact, Mars was out of contention early, with McCreadie holding off Scott James, who finished second for the second-straight night on the half-mile dirt track.
Bobby Hogge, Steve Drake and Chris Shannon rounded out the top five.
James was the fast qualifier for the 44-car field.
