Nezworski Dominates At 34 Raceway; Woodworth Gets First In Deery LMs

Deery Brothers Summer Series LM

April 29

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa — Andy Nezworski has a new highlight for his Deery Brothers Summer Series career.
Nezworski led all 40 laps en route to the $2,000 checkers April 29 at 34 Raceway. The victory, his first in the tour for IMCA J & J Steel Late Models, also made Nezworski the third different winner in as many events this season.
Taking the point from outside row one, Nezworski had to hold off Justin Reed following five scattered cautions. Reed looked underneath several times, but couldn’t complete the pass, staying close before falling off the pace with a couple laps left and following six car lengths behind Nezworski at the finish.
Rounding out the top five were Mark Burgtorf, Denny Woodworth and Lonnie Bailey. The finish:
Andy Nezworski, Justin Reed, Mark Burgtorf, Denny Woodworth, Lonnie Bailey, Todd Cooney, Tom Darbyshire, Tom Goble, Tom Bowling, Jr., Matt Ryan, Mike Klinkkammer, Matt Strassheim, Rob Toland, Terry Neal, Darrel DeFrance, Robby Warner, Charlie McKenna, Cory Goldbeck, Joey Gower, Jay Johnson, J.D. Auringer, Gary Russell, Jason Frankel, Boone McLaughlin.

April 30

QUINCY, Ill. — Denny Woodworth saw a lot more of the back of the field than he wanted to before the checkered flag April 30 at Quincy Raceway.
Woodworth maintained a sometimes-tenuous lead the last 44 times around the track in the 50-lap Deery Brothers Summer Series main event, holding off Mark Burgtorf and Tom Darbyshire to capture his first career win in the tour for IMCA J & J Steel Late Models.
The victory was good for $2,000.
After threatening to run away from the pack, Woodworth was slowed by backrunners midway and again late in the race. Cautions came out  as the field tightened both times to take the tail enders out of play and Woodworth pulled ahead on the resulting restarts.
Burgtorf, Mike Garland and Robby Warner rounded out the top five.
Woodworth became the fourth different winner in the four events held so far this spring, joining Mike Collins and Andy Nezworski as first-time victors.
The finish:
Denny Woodworth, Tom Darbyshire, Mark Burgtorf, Mike Garland, Robby Warner, Boone McLaughlin, Justin Reed, Terry Neal, Dustin Neese, Kevin Tomlinson, Matt Strassheim, Darrel DeFrance, Jeff Bair, Todd Cooney, Andy Nezworski, Bryan Klein, Stephan Kammerer, Mike Klinkkammer, Charlie McKenna, Cory Goldbeck, Jason Perry, Lonnie Bailey, Ben Nading, Rob Toland.
