Friday

BRUNSWICK, Ga.— Jimmy Owens is looking super at Golden Isles Speedway’s SuperBowl of Racing IV.
Fresh off Wednesday’s $10,000 victory in the opener and a rainout on Thursday, Owens blew away the field on Friday for another $10,000 payday.
He had a straightaway lead on fellow front-row starter Donnie Moran after just five laps and never let anyone get any closer in the 50-lap main event.
The UMP-sanctioned victory gives Owens four-straight late-model victories going back to two wins that he wrapped up 2007 with at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, S.C., and East Bay Raceway Park near Tampa, Fla., a crate engine race. He’s piloting the same Bloomquist Race Car that carried him to most of his victories during a stellar 2007 season, including the 37th annual World 100 at Eldora Speedway.
At Golden Isles, Steve Francis took second from Moran on the lap-44 restart, but he was no match for Owens, who again built a full straightaway lead in cruising the final laps.
Moran ended up third, with Tim Fuller and Hall of Famer Scott Bloomquist  rounding out the top five.
Owens was also the fast qualifier for the 53-car field, turning a 15.445-second lap of the four-tenths-mile oval.
Owens wasn’t the only repeat winner at Golden Isles. Shane Williams captured his second National Late Model Series feature during the Super Bowl of Racing IV.
The finish:
Jimmy Owens, Steve Francis, Donnie Moran, Tim Fuller, Scott Bloomquist, Tim McCreadie, Billy Moyer, Ricky Elliott, Shane Clanton, Mike Marlar, Josh Richards, Darrell Lanigan, Earl Pearson, Jr., Kelly Boen, Brady Smith, Damon Eller, Randle Chupp, Tyler Ivey, Chris Madden, Steve Shaver, Chub Frank, Matt Miller, Ivedent Lloyd, Jr., Clint Smith, Terry Casey.

Wednesday

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — Jimmy Owens kicked off the 2008 season in style by capturing the first round of the Super Bowl of Racing IV at Golden Isles Speedway Jan. 23.
Owens, who notched his third victory in a row going back to 2007, slipped under Shane Clanton on the 37th lap and led the rest of the 50-lapper.
Owens, who started third but dropped back to fourth midway through the race, earned $10,000 at the track which is offering the same winning purse every night through Feb. 2.
The sixth-starting Clanton, who was fading from contention before making a rally to take the lead from Earl Pearson, Jr. on the 31st lap, finished second, with Pearson third.
Pearson started outside the front row and led the first 30 laps.
Polesitter Chris Madden ran second through the first half of the race before settling for fourth. Billy Moyer was fifth, while Darrell Lanigan charged from 19th to finish sixth.
The UMP-sanctioned late-model race was slowed by three cautions. None for major incidents.
Scott Bloomquist was the fast qualifier for the 47-car field on the four-tenths-mile oval.
