Rain Stops Perris Late Models, But Not Before Dunham Wins

PERRIS, Calif. — Rain shortened the PASSCAR extreme- late-model event on Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway, but one guy who didn’t seem to mind was Jeff Dunham. Dunham claimed the win, his first of the year, thanks to the timely weather call.
His win, however, was not all due to weather as he started on the front row and inherited the lead after early leader Mike Kirby slowed on lap nine.
Dunham managed to hang onto the position despite heated, repeated contact from the charging Zack Forster. The field was temporarily slowed for a wreck, and once underway many spots within the top 10 were shaken up, but Dunham pulled away in time for another caution to fall over the event. Under yellow, the rain came, cutting the event short with only 22 laps in the books.

Score Another For Eckert At Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Jimmy Phelps dominated the big-block modified feature at Hagerstown Speedway on Saturday, leading 25 of the 30 laps and crossing the finish line nearly two-seconds over runner-up Ryan Goodwin.
Rick Eckert took the other big win of the day in the 30-lap late-model event. After starting 13th, Roy Deese, Jr. charged to second at the finish over early leader Josh Richards.
Both Phelps and Eckert took home a $2,000 pay check. Eckert also won a heat event earlier in the day.

Steif Is Strong At Trail-Way

HANOVER, Pa. —  Rick Steif started from the pole and, despite the efforts of outside polesitter Joe Robertson, went on to win the 600cc micro- sprint event at Trail-Way Speedway  Saturday.
Defending track champion Todd Hoover took home top honors in the 270cc micro division after snaring the lead at halfway from Nik Gower, who held on to finish second.
Jeremy Lynch also took home a trophy Saturday, leading all 20 laps in the sprint race.
