Walters Unfazed By Early Wreck
Perris Auto Speedway, Lake Perris, Calif.
LAKE PERRIS, Calif. — Greg Walters wrecked his race car on his qualifying lap at Perris Auto Speedway Saturday night.
To the dismay of his competitors, the incident didn’t stop him from racing. Walters went on to win the 25-lap extreme late-model feature after his only challenger, Ron Meyer, broke a driveshaft. Mike Kirby put down a valiant effort, but had nothing for the dominant Walters.
After he started the event mid-pack, Brad Pounds went on to take the modified win.
An eight-car wreck broke out in turn one on the first lap of the street-stock competition. Once the event restarted, Jerry Knight led all 20 laps of the street-stock feature and Phil Holms won the factory stock main.
