Williams Wins In Ocala’s Dirt Return

OCALA, Fla. — The United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series presented by Central Mobile Homes rolled into Ocala Speedway for its first race of 2008.
The season-opening event for both the series and the track marked the speedway’s return to dirt after being resurfaced over the off-season. Ocala Speedway, originally a dirt track, sported an asphalt surface for the past 12 years.
Shane Williams took home the $3,000 winner’s share after edging local favorite Ivedent Lloyd in the main event. Mark Whitner, Marshall Austin and Jeff Matthews completed the top five.
A packed house of more than 4,000 fans was on hand for the speedway’s return to dirt.
