Decker Does His Usual Thing On Dirt

Race of Champions Dirt Modified Series

By Al Robinson

KIRKWOOD, N.Y. — Billy Decker was dominant in Thursday night’s Dart Race of Champions Dirt Modified race at Five Mile Point Speedway, as he led all 75 laps and lapped through eighth place.
Scheduled to start third, Decker was promoted to the front row when polesitter Ronnie Johnson spun on the first lap. It was no contest from that point, as only runner-up Jack Johnson could keep Decker in sight, and even he faded during a 38-lap mid-race green-flag run. The rest of the top five shuffled in a flurry of late-race cautions that saw Brian Weaver slide from third to sixth. Alan Johnson grabbed third, his brother Danny Johnson was fourth, and Mitch Gibbs took fifth.
