INVERNESS, Fla. — Curtis Neumann pulled off the spin-and-win in Saturday night’s open-wheeled modified feature as the Citrus County Speedway kicked off the 2008 short-track racing season.
Neumann took the top spot in his heat race and then drew the seventh starting position in the 30-lap feature, quickly moving through the pack to take the top spot before being spun by Richie Smith while leading the race.
Neumann regained the top spot and held off Doug Miller and Robbie Cooper to take his first victory of the year. Smith came home fourth, followed by Bobby Taylor in fifth place.
The others in the season opener included Mike Veltman (sportsman), Robbie Yoakham (mini stock), Brandon Watson (4-Cylinder), Bill Ryan (pure stock), Darryl Hage (figure-8) and Austin Roberts (thunder stock).
