FORT WORTH, Texas — Troy Taylor captured the modified championship of the inaugural IMCA Lone Star Nationals before an estimated crowd of more than 12,000 at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.
“Judging from the standing room-only crowd we had, this was an extremely successful inaugural event,” Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage said. “Between the great racing and huge crowd, it was everything we could have wanted in an our inaugural fall dirt event.”
Taylor was one of four division champions crowned in Saturday’s 25-lap finales of the three-day event that was the second-largest IMCA event this season with more than 300 competitors.
“I believe this race here may surpass Boone (SuperNationals) in the coming years. This race here will get bigger and bigger,” said Turner, who earned $2,000. “This is a great facility, and the location is good. It’s the nicest place I’ve ever been to.”
Keith White, a two-time national champion, earned the SportMod championship, while Jeff Turner won the stock-car crown. Chad Wilson captured the 25-lap Sprint Series of Texas feature.
