Vet Shryock Takes 5th In Home State
Ruter Farms Iowa Spring Challenge
BRITT, Iowa — The third-annual Ruter Farms Iowa Spring Challenge on June 10 was the only of four O’Reilly USMTS National Tour events severe weather across most of Iowa did not wipe out last week.
Track workers at Hancock County Speedway spent 24 hours pumping thousands of gallons of water out of the track to make the track race worthy in time for Iowan Kelly Shryock to capture his fifth victory of the season.
Despite several cautions that kept the field tight and race-long challenges from rookie Dereck Ramirez, Tommy Weder, Jr., Zack VanderBeek and Al Hejna, the eight-time O’Reilly USMTS National Champion never faltered after taking the lead from Ramirez on lap nine.
Bob Timm finished second, Hejna was third, Mike Sorensen fourth and Jay Notebook finished fifth.
