Hearn Earns 500th Victory
Super DIRTcar
Aug. 6
THOROLD, Ontario — He was the last driver to arrive at the track yet the fastest once the first green flag waved. And when the final checkered flag waved, Danny Johnson was the first in line after dominating the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series Toolneeds 15th Trevor Wilkens Memorial 100 on Monday at Merrittville Speedway.
Front-row partner Pete Bicknell nosed ahead of polesitter Johnson to complete the first circuit, but Johnson pulled ahead for good the next time around and 30 minutes later was celebrating for the third time in the 2007 Advance Auto Parts Series. Just one caution period slowed the event on lap six, with Johnson lapping up to fifth-place finisher, older brother Alan Johnson.
Billy Decker improved from second to fourth during the final 30 circuits, finishing ahead of Integra Shocks Fast Timer Brett Hearn and Tim Fuller.

Thursday
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y — Canandaigua Speedway once loomed as Brett Hearn’s biggest nemesis in the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series. Hearn has befriended the Ontario County Fairgrounds half-miler over the years, and the two became best buddies after he held off tour foe Tim Fuller to capture Thursday’s 50-lap event.
Polesitter Dale Planck led the initial circuit before front-row partner Vic Coffey took control following a lap-two restart to kick off the feature action. Hearn started 10th and methodically worked his way forward on the lightning-fast clay.
At the halfway point, Hearn was comfortably running among the front five just as the sixth caution period unfolded on lap 27. From there, he overtook Fuller for second and four laps later dashed past Coffey high on the back chute to forge the final lead change. Hearn proceeded with precision through lapped car traffic and held off a late-race rally by Fuller to score an all-time Series high 95th career victory on the Northeast’s premier tour for big-block modifieds.
Fuller held on for second and was followed to the line by Vic Coffey.
The finish:
Brett Hearn, Tim Fuller, Vic Coffey, Frank Cozze, Allan Johnson, Mitch Gibbs, Billy Decker, Dale Planck, Jimmy Phelps, Pat Ward, Danny Johnson, Steve Paine, Justin Haers, Billy Dunn, Derrick Podsiadlo, Vince Vitale, Charlie Donk, Shannon Whaley, Chad Homan, Eldon Payne, Jr., Matt Sheppard, Mike Bowman, Chad Brachmann, Russ Hefti, Chuck Bower, Kevin Bates, Gary Tomkins, Dave Rauscher, Brett Tonkin, Ryan Phelps.
