CALVERT CITY, Ky. — Steve Francis opened the UMP-sanctioned March Madness for dirt late models by winning Thursday night’s event at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway that opened a scheduled three-night program.
Francis banked $5,000 for beating Dennis Erb to the checkered flag on the three-eighths-mile dirt track.
Bart Hartman was third, with Terry English and Brad Neat rounding out the top five.
Randall Sweeney banked $2,000 for beating Tom Seets, Jr. to the finish in the companion modified event.

CALVERT CITY, Ky. — Billy Moyer was back in victory lane Friday night at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway.
Moyer held off Michael England to bank $5,000 on the second night of March Madness at the three-eighths-mile dirt track.
It was Moyer’s seventh triumph of the season.
England took second, while Dennis Erb, Jr., David Scott and Wendell Wallace rounded out the top five.
Saturday night’s finale for the three-race series was rained out.
