KNOXVILLE, Iowa — For the second year in a row, the World of Outlaws used the Knoxville Nationals to release the series’s schedule for the coming season.
The schedule currently boasts 80 events and another 12 races that are listed as TBA (To Be Announced).
The season opens at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida, Feb. 8-10, and concludes for the second-consecutive season with the Fall Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway, Oct. 30-Nov. 1.
“It is very important for us to get our schedule released this early so that our fans and our promoters can make plans,” said DIRT Vice President Ben Geisler. “Releasing it earlier allows us to push our television partners and gives us time to recruit new sponsors.”
The series will visit three facilities where it has never raced before — Virginia Motor Speedway (May 24), Gillette Thunder Speedway in Wyoming (Aug. 14) and Lucas Oil Speedway (Sept. 14) in Wheatland, Mo.
Traditional events including the Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway on July 12, the Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway on Sept. 4-6 and the National Open at Williams Grove Speedway on Sept. 26-27 also return to the schedule.
Knoxville Raceway will host three World of Outlaws events, but the 48th Knoxville Nationals will not be sanctioned. “We are not going to schedule against the Knoxville Nationals,” Geisler said. “We will support the event and hope to play a larger role in it during the coming years.”
