WoO Regular Madsen Takes Classic
Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic, Sungold Stadium Premier Speedway, Warrnambool, Australia
WARRNAMBOOL, Australia — Kerry Madsen made history Sunday night in his native Australia.
The World of Outlaws regular won the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at Sungold Stadium Premier Speedway for the fourth consecutive year.
Madsen bested American Jason Johnson and Australian sprint-car legend Max Dumesny. Brooke Tatnell finished fourth, while American Mark Dobmeier was fifth.
Madsen lined up fourth for the main event, and quickly moved into third on the opening lap, getting around Johnson. He next set his sights on Ian Loudoun and passed him on the second lap to move into the second position. He then shadowed Dumesny for the next 14 laps, before taking the lead on the 16th circuit.
Madsen would go on to lead the rest of the 40-lap contest, which was run in just under nine minutes.
