ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — In 2006, Randy Monroe, Jr. was a go-kart champion at Dixieland Speedway. On Friday night, Monroe went to the head of the class, winning the 20-lap ARDC midget feature in front of a wildly enthusiastic hometown crowd.
Monroe fought off a late challenge from Eric Heydenreich, while Tracy Readinger romped from 16th to finish third. Stephanie Stevens and Frank Polimeda rounded out the top five.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Driving his family’s No. 46 midget, Brett Arndt became the second first-time winner in as many nights for the American Racing Drivers Club midgets Saturday night at County Line Raceway.
Arndt started on the pole and led all 25 laps of the three-eighths-mile dirt track. Arndt fought off Nick Wean during the closing laps, with Frank Polimeda, Andy Martin and Chris Zrinskicompleting the top five.
