SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — Mike Hess extended his series points lead by capturing the 30-lap Badger Midget Series feature Sunday night at Angell Park Speedway. It was his second Badger victory of the season.
With Hess running in fourth on lap 21, race leader Jerry Coons, Jr.’s car lost power and rolled to a stop, bringing out a caution flag. Davey Ray assumed the point, but led a half-lap before he also slowed and brought out another yellow.
Hess inherited the lead in the Jerry Hardy-owned Buzzard-Hawk Chevrolet No. 4 and went unchallenged over the final nine laps, finishing 1.28 seconds ahead of second-place Brandon Waelti.
Scott Hatton was third, Joe Wipperfurth fourth and Aaron Fiscus rounded out the top five.
The finish:
Mike Hess, Brandon Waelti, Scott Hatton, Joe Wipperfurth, Aaron Fiscus, Matt Smith, Nick Lundgreen, Chad DeSelle, Rob Keelan, Tim Noble, Robbie Ray, David Gough, Buddy Luebke, Kris Hoegsted, Davey Ray, Jerry Coons, Jr., Bubba Altig, Michael Pickens, Jake Slotten.
