BEAVER DAM, Wis. — Mike Hess passed teammate David Gough with eight laps remaining to win Saturday night’s Badger Midget Series feature at Charter Raceway Park.

Gough took the early lead in an event that was slowed by a six-car accident on the second lap. Michael Pickens and Hess trailed Gough through the first half of the race.

Gough, Hess and Pickens were separated by less than three car lengths through most of the race, with six unofficial lead changes taking place during a seven-lap period, though Gough would lead at the start-finish line each time.

Hess made the winning pass entering turn three on the 21st lap. Despite two cautions during the remainder of the 30-lap race, Hess led throughout, with Gough second.

Chad DeSelle, Joe Wipperfurth and Tim Noble filled the top five.

The finish:

Mike Hess, David Gough, Chad DeSelle, Joe Wipperfurth, Tim Noble, Buddy Luebke, Michael Pickens, Aaron Fiscus, Brandon Waelti, David Budres, Dan Mecum, Davey Ray, Bryon Walters, Nick Lundgreen, Scott Hatton, Bubba Altig.
