SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — Officials of the Badger Midget Auto Racing Ass’n released a 26-race schedule this past week. The season will mark the 72nd year of sanctioning racing for the country’s oldest midget auto racing organization.
For the first time since 2000, Badger will sanction an indoor event, which will serve as its season opener on Saturday night/Sunday afternoon March 29-30. The Amsoil Sandbox Arena at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.), a 120,000 square-foot indoor facility that opened in October for motocross racing, will host two events on a quarter-mile clay oval.  
Sun Prairie’s Angell Park Speedway will again serve as the cornerstone of the series, with the first of 17 races held on May 18. The Angell Park season will conclude on Aug. 30 with the running of the $10,000-to-win Fireman’s Nationals presented by Pepsi. Other special events at the track include 50-lap features on May 25 and Aug. 17. The eighth-annual Hall of Fame Classic will again be run as two separate events on Aug. 23-24 co-sanctioned with USAC.  
USAC, Badger and four other series (ARDC, POWRi, RMMRA and SMRS) will sanction the seventh annual Pepsi/Mt. Dew Knoxville Midget Nationals on June 20-21 at the legendary Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway. Charter Raceway (Beaver Dam, Wis.) will host three Saturday Badger/IRA Sprint Car Series doubleheaders at the  facility May 3, May 31 and July 12.
