PERTH, Australia — American Davey Ray won the Australian SpeedCar Championship in an exciting 40-lap duel here Saturday night.
Ray started in the seventh row and steadily worked his way to the front of the pack, taking the lead on the final lap to win the event for the second time in his career.
“The most important lap to lead is the last one,” said Ray. “I want to thank all the people that have helped put this team together for me to race down here. I’m just so excited to get my second win here.”
Scott Glazebrook finished second, with Rick Geneve, Anthony Peterman and Brett Matherson rounding out the top five.
