ARCA’s Allgaier Gets First In POWRi Midgets At Macon

Macon (Ill.) Speedway

MACON, Ill. — Justin Allgaier has had his share of victories in late models and the ARCA RE/MAX Series, but Friday night he earned his first midget victory.
Allgaier passed Mike Hess with five laps to go to win the 30-lap O’Reilly POWRi presented by Lucas Oil midget feature at Macon Speedway.
Hess started on the pole at the fifth-mile dirt track, while Allgaier started Ebby Bergfield’s Esslinger-powered Spike in the eighth spot.
Allgaier took second from Rich Camfield on lap 12 and began chasing Hess. Caution flags bunched the field on lap 23 and gave Allgaier the opportunity to set up Hess. On lap 25, Allgaier passed Hess going into turn one, but Hess battled back in turn two.
Allgaier made the pass stick in turn three and led the final five laps.
Hess finished second ahead of Camfield, Brad Kuhn and Kevin Olson.
The finish:
Justin Allgaier, Mike Hess, Rich Camfield, Brad Kuhn, Kevin Olson, Brett Anderson, Tim Siner, Brad Loyet, Dereck King, Daniel Adler, Daniel Robinson, Austin Brown, Dave Camfield, Jr., Nick Knepper, Tyler Robbins, Bubba Altig, Tracy Hines, Derek Hagar, Tony Roney, Derrick Myers, Zach Daum, Ricky Ehrgott.
