Nobody Hotter Than Loftin

NASCAR Whelen Southern Modifieds

ASHEBORO, N.C. — They say when you’re hot you’re hot. Following his victory Friday night at Caraway Speedway in the Whelen Southern Modified Tour 150, there’s no doubt that Brian Loftin is on fire.
Loftin posted his third-consecutive victory in dominant fashion while moving into the series point lead in the process.
Second-place finisher Burt Myers made sure he didn’t make it look too easy as he mounted a stiff challenge on a restart with two laps remaining, only to come up .793 seconds short.
“I just wanted to get a good restart so bad and not spin my tires and give Burt a chance to get by me,” Loftin said. “Sometimes, you get on a roll and feel like you can’t do anything wrong. I’m going to ride this wave as long as I can.”
Andy Seuss had one of the race’s dominant cars, trailing Loftin in second until engine problems struck with less than 20 laps to go.
Rounding out the top five behind Loftin and Myers were Brandon Ward, Jason Myers and Brian King.
The finish:
Brian Loftin, Burt Myers, Brandon Ward, Jason Myers, Brian King, George Brunnhoelzl, L.W. Miller, Tim Brown, John Smith, Zach Brewer, Thomas Stinson, Buddy Emory, Jay Mize, Jay Foley, Brandon Hire, Bobby Hutchens, Dean Ward, Andy Seuss, Rich Kuiken, Jr., Scott Rigney, Frank Fleming, Sean Gartner.
