Abbott Edges Pistone For Title

Saturday
ORLANDO, Fla. — Kory Abbott edged Nick Pistone to post a double victory as the 600 Racing Winternationals wrapped up Saturday afternoon at Orlando Speedworld.
Abbott held off Pistone to earn his third pro division victory in four days and narrowly defeat Pistone for the Winternationals title. Pistone finished second on Saturday, with Daniel Hemrick, Jordan Anderson and Ryan Johnson filling the top five.
Justin Swilling topped a crash-marred semi-pro feature and picked up the championship in the process.
Clay Hair claimed the masters division championship after posting his third victory of the week. Dylan Presnell won the young lions championship, but moved up to the semi-pro class for Saturday, leaving the victory for Austin Leitner.
Ryan Schleusner completed a sweep of the charger division. Dillon Bassett won the bandolero bandit feature, but Kyle Benjamin claimed the title. Chad Finchum and Kendall Sellers earned victories in the other bandolero classes.
Friday
ORLANDO, Fla. — Friday night brought round four of the 600 Racing Winternationals at Orlando Speedworld and a down-to-the-wire duel between Kory Abbott and Nick Pistone in the legends main event.
Pistone made one final charge at Abbott off of turn four on the last lap and the two got together as Abbott inched ahead to take the checkered flag.
Other winners of the night were Justin Swilling (legend semi-pros), Dennis Knox (legends masters), Dylan Presnell (legend car young lions), Ryan Schleusner (legend car charger class), Dillon Bassett (bandolero bandit), Chad Finchum (bandolero young guns), (Kendall Sellers (bandolero outlaws) and Tom Clarke (Thunder Roadster).
Thursday
ORLANDO, Fla. — Local favorite Kory Abbott inherited the Pro division victory on the second night of the 600 Racing Winternationals at Orlando Speedworld.
Craig Goess, Jr. took the checkered flag, but when fellow competitor Nick Pistone claimed his engine, Goess refused the claim and was disqualified, handing the victory to Abbott, with Pistone, who was involved in an on-track incident with Goess the previous night, finishing second.
Clay Hair dominated the masters feature, beating Tim Brockhouse to the checkered flag. Shaughn McCormick took the lead on the white flag lap and won the semi pro feature. Dylan Presnell topped the Legends young lions feature. Ryan Schleusne won the charger feature.
Kyle Benjamin, Chad Finchum and Jarod Hicks claimed bandolero victories.
Feb. 13
ORLANDO, Fla. — With the opening night round of the 600 Racing Winternationals rained out, Feb. 13 became a double program, which led to racing ending after the midnight hour.
Nick Pistone claimed the opening Pro division feature, holding off Jesse Bunnell for the victory.
The evening Pro feature was crash-marred, with Kyle winning a race, which was checkered flagged three laps short of the scheduled distance. Pistone claimed a second-place finish.
After a 13-car crash on the opening lap, Larry Friddle went on to claim the first of two masters division features, ahead of Dennis Knox.
The nightcap saw Tim Brockhouse hold off Clay Hair for the victory.
Michael Brown and Jimmy Norman split the features in the semi-pro class, with Dylan Presnell sweeping the Legends young lions features. As well, Ryan Schlusne swept the two charger main events.
Kyle Benjamin swept the bandolero bandit features, with Chad Finchum doing like wise in the bandolero young guns class.
Jesse Bunnell scored a pair of wins in Thunder Roadster competition.
