ORLANDO, Fla. — Craig Goess, Jr. visited victory lane during the Mopar PRI Sprint & Midget Classic Friday night at Orlando Speedworld.
Goess drove his No. 81 Legends car around Kory Abbott, who rules weekly Legends action at the half-mile asphalt oval, on lap 13 and paced the remainder of the 20-lap event, beating Abbott under the checkered flag by .301 second.
“Anything can happen at Orlando,” Goess said. “The guy in front is in the worst position that you could possibly be in. You never know what to expect.”
Goess said he will leave his Legends car behind in 2008 to compete in the NASCAR Busch East Series.
Abbott finished second, with Blake Brown, Brandon Thomson and Andrew Smith rounding out the top five.
The finish:
Craig Goess, Jr., Kory Abbott, Blake Brown, Brandon Thomson, Andrew Smith, Chelsea Schillig, Christian Pahud, Duncan Molesworth, Ryan Ellis, Josh Williams, Jimmy Norman, Dylan Ames, John Hilker, Alex Kempf, Mike Verhaagh, Michael Bilderback, Shaughn McCormick, David Tart, Jason Powers, Jimmy Hanson, Gary Bursey, Darin Coker.
