Renezeder Takes Finale

CORR - Las Vegas Int'l Off Road Raceway

PRIMM, Nev. — Carl Renezeder came out on top of an intense battle with defending Pro 4 Champion Johnny Greaves to win the 2nd Annual Jason Baldwin Memorial Cup and the largest purse in off-road history in Sunday’s Champion Off Road Racing season finale at Las Vegas Int’l Off Road Raceway.
Greaves and Renezeder went back and forth in a furious battle on the final lap, with Renezeder finally inching ahead in turn three to secure the victory as well as the largest purse in series history of $66,000. Greaves settled for the runner-up spot over Josh Baldwin to round out the podium. Rob MacCachren finished fourth and took home $6,600 for finishing first among the Pro 2 class.
MacCachren led much of the 19-lap event before spinning with six to go, handing the lead to Renezeder. MacCachren stormed back to retake the lead briefly before Renezeder moved back to the head of field, followed by Baldwin and Greaves.
Greaves slipped past Baldwin for second and set his sights on Renezeder. On the final lap, Greaves got by Renezeder in turn two only to have Renezeder return the favor in turn three, barely edging out Greaves for the victory.
Renezeder finished dead last in the regular Pro 4 Series event but still managed to secure the 2007 Pro 4 title. Scott Douglas won the feature over Troy Herbst and Baldwin.
Marty Hart won the Pro Lite feature over Robert Naughton, who clinched the 2007 Pro Lite Championship. MacCachren won the Pro 2 Series event while Jerry Whelchel finished third to win the Pro 2 title. MacCachren also topped the Super Buggy feature as Larry Foddill clinched the season championship.
Cory Boyer bested the Single Buggy feature over division champion Bryce Menzies.
